BNP announces program to demand release of Khaleda Zia
His
party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining
about a third of the seats.
The
party's secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the program at
a press conference after a meeting with party leaders and top leaders of
affiliated organizations at the party's central office in Naya Paltan on
Wednesday.
He said
the nationalist Juba Dal would hold a nationwide protest on November 25 in the
capital and across the country demanding the release of Khaleda Zia and
ensuring her medical treatment abroad. There will be protests in front of the
National Press Club in the capital.
After
Friday, November 26, prayers will be offered in mosques across the country for
Khaleda Zia's recovery. In addition, followers of other religions will pray in
their respective places of worship.
The
Nationalist Volunteer Party will hold demonstrations across the country,
including the capital, on November 26. The protest will be held at the National
Press Club in Dhaka.
BNP
secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the meeting. The
meeting was attended by BNP joint secretary general, organizing secretary and
co-organizing secretary. Besides, the presidents and general secretaries of the
affiliated organizations were also present. The above program was adopted at
the meeting.
